Colby S. Byrd is a local jewelry designer that attended East Carolina University’s Metal Design program and studied under world-renowned metal smiths and contemporary jewelers. After spending several months in Italy for an art program, Colby was able to bring home the inspiration and skill needed to begin his own jewelry company, Shelton Metal. While in Italy, he was able to attend workshops in enameling and contemporary design with some of the top designers in the region. Much of Shelton Metal designs are raw and organic with heavy inspiration from the depths of the sea. Colby’s work reflects life experiences, world travels, and found objects along the way. Now living back in the states, Colby owns and designs for Shelton Metal. This has allowed him to venture more into his talents as a jewelry designer and businessman.
